Brake Job, Front (Disc)

Description: Replace the front friction materials and reface the rotors. The friction material (on a pad or shoe platform) squeezes against the rotor or drum when the brake is applied to slow the car to a stop. Over time, with usage the pad or shoe wears thin. The rotor or drum can become worn due to contact and heat. Machining (scraping or cutting so it is smooth and true) the rotor or drum is allowable within specification, but if the thickness of the rotor or drum becomes too thin or the surface is scored or warped, they will need to be replaced. Depending on vehicle type, replacement may be the only option. For more information, please refer to brake system maintenance.
